It has been a beautiful warm, sunny weekend and we took a drive to Hotel Caseta Nova for a late Spanish lunch. The hotel was an old olive mill and had extremely high ceilings, exposed beams and solid stone walls. In the floor of the main room is a huge pit in the floor covered now with a glass viewing platform where the vats of olive oil were stored. The cool interior was perfect for lunch at the peak of the sun's heat. The food was delicious and we were tempted by local ham, gambas, steaks and traditional rice in the oven dishes. If you're ever passing I would highly recommend the chef!

Eagle Watching
Drove through the Parc Naturel du Maigo this morning to 1296m above sea level. There were some very tight hair pin bends and a sheer drop to one side all the way up the mountain. But from the top we could see all the way to the coastline of Alicante. Well just about, it was a
bit hazy.
Took the binoculars and watched a pair of eagles soaring on the thermals over the hills around us. The silly hat is an essential piece of equipment for eagle watching.
Believe me, it keeps your hair from going in front
of the lenses in the wind!

Monday 24th May 2010, Spain
Arrived in Alicante, our favourite May holiday destination, at midnight for a couple of weeks with the outlaws, as Mark calls my parents!
Beautiful sunshine later on for Dad's birthday and our 4th wedding anniversary. Plan to spend some very lazy days in the sun enjoying the warmth and five star service!
